Bernice Erickson, 84, of Humboldt, passed away February 3, 2011 at the Humboldt Care Center North.  Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Faith United Methodist Church in Humboldt with the Rev. Walden Paige officiating.  Interment will be in Northlawn Cemetery, Fort Dodge.  Visitation is from 4-7 p.m. Monday at the church.  The Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Bernice is survived by her children, Larry (Kathy) Erickson of Livermore, Allen (Michelle) Erickson of Hardy, Sheri Erickson of Ankeny, and Kristi Morgan of Ankeny; grandchildren, Brandon Erickson, Brett Erickson, Jessica Erickson,  Sarah Oehrlein, Ben Houle, Erica Erickson, Trevor Erickson, Tyler Erickson, Mary Jo Morgan, and Phillip Morgan; great grandchildren, Jordan Oehrlein, Tori Oehrlein, Mia Houle, David Erickson, and Kayln Erickson; 3 brothers; and 6 sisters.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest in 2010; her parents, Sam and Tillie (Gerber) Mogler; one sister; and 3 brothers.

Bernice Mogler, the daughter of Sam and Tillie (Gerber) Mogler, was born May 21, 1927.  She was the second oldest of fourteen children.  She grew up on a farm but moved several times from West Bend, Algona, then to Whittemore where she received her education.  She was employed in a grocery store at Whittemore until attending Tobin Business School on Fort Dodge.  She then worked in the offices of Carnation Milk until her marriage to Ernest Erickson on October 23, 1955.  The couple made their home near Hardy where they raised their children and managed their crop and livestock farming operation for many years.  Following their retirement, the couple moved to Humboldt.
