Humboldt – Doris Ann (Vik) Kirchhoff, 65, a life-long resident of the Humboldt area, died suddenly at her home on Wednesday, November 17, 2010 after a battle with Multiple Myeloma/Amyloidosis.  Visitation will be held Friday, November 19th from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt.  Funeral services will be Saturday, November 20th at 10:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church also in Humboldt.

Born in Fort Dodge, Iowa on March 20, 1945, Doris was educated in the Humboldt School system, graduated in 1963, and then attended Business College in Mankato, Minnesota.

Doris worked for First National Bank of Humboldt, and later Hawkeye Bank, for 29 years.  She later was employed by Hog Slat, Inc. from which she retired in 2007.

She was an avid baker and cook.  Doris spent her life preparing food for every event imaginable and loved doing it.  She had a gift for making people feel happy and serving with her heart.  In her later years, swimming had become one of her newer passions while she and her husband, Lonnie spent many weekends biking the Root River Trail around Lanesboro, Minnesota.
Doris is survived by her husband Lonnie of Humboldt, IA; a daughter, Jennifer Berte and her husband Kent of Humboldt, IA; a son, Justin Kirchhoff and his wife Joy of Dakota City, IA; one grandson, Sam Berte of Humboldt, IA; brothers Tilford Vik of Houston, TX and Carroll Vik of Lamoni, IA; and, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Those loved ones who have preceded her in death are her father Nels Vik, mother Claris (Warland) Vik, and sister Geraldine (Vik)Kuhn.
