Dorothy Lea Larson, 77, of Lone Tree Road, passed away September 28, 2013 as the result of an automobile accident. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt with the Rev. Wayne Almlie officiating. Interment will be in Blossom Hill Cemetery, Badger. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Merle Larson of Badger; her sons, Paul (Sue Hill) Larson of Humboldt, Roger (Julie) Larson of Buffalo, and Mark Larson of Newton; her grandchildren, Noah (Amy) Larson, Kelsey Larson, Haley Larson, Ryan (Ashley) Larson, Jamie Larson, and Kassidy (Kevin) Roney; her great grandson, Isaac Larson; and sisters, Arliss Mohr of Fort Dodge, and Betty (Roger) Enburg of Badger. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, Darwin and Steve Johnson.
Dorothy Lea Johnson, the daughter of Jesse and Agnes (Larson) Johnson, was born January 15, 1936 on a farm near Thor, Iowa. She spent her early years in Thor before moving to Badger and graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School. Dorothy was working in her grandparent’s drug store when she met Merle Larson who thought she made the best malted milks. The couple was united in marriage and made their home at Badger. Dorothy was employed in retail sales at Anthony’s in Humboldt and J.C. Penny’s in Fort Dodge. In 1969, the family moved to their acreage on Lone Tree Road.
Dorothy was a member of the Hauge Lutheran Church in Goldfield where she was active in mission work. Dorothy was always on go helping others, volunteering at church, in care centers, and at Friendship Haven. She enjoyed gardening and working in her yard. Dorothy was known as an excellent cook and enjoyed passing out her homemade cookies. Above all, Dorothy loved her children and her grandchildren.
