Gary Vance Lewellyn, 63, of Oklahoma City, OK, formerly of Humboldt, passed away July 4, 2012 at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City, OK, after a 3 month battle with Lymphoma.  Memorial Services will be held on Friday, July 20, 2012 at 11:00 am at Faith United Methodist Church in Humboldt, Humboldt, Iowa.  Interment will be at Ida Grove, Iowa.  Visitation will be from 5-7 pm on Thursday July 19, 2012 at Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt.
Gary was born in Ida Grove, Iowa on October 3, 1948 to Clifford and LaVon (Hazzard) Lewellyn.  He was raised and educated in Ida Grove, Algona and Humboldt.  Gary graduated from Humboldt High School in 1966 where he was Student Body President, Member of National Honor Society, recipient of the “Dare You” Award and gave the senior class commencement address.  Gary excelled in basketball and golf during his high school years.  Gary attended Iowa State University and the University of Colorado and graduated with a degree in History.
Gary taught history and coached football in Greenfield and Jefferson, Iowa.  Gary worked for Dain, Kalman & Quail Brokerage Firm and E.F. Hutton before starting his own brokerage firm in Des Moines, Iowa.  He and his wife Tamra currently owned a sports nutrition business.  His business and personal clients included many college teams, NBA & NFL teams.
He married Dena Allen.  To this union 2 children were born, Dustin Allen & Anna Christina.  They later divorced.
Gary loved taking fishing trips to Canada with his father and brotherCraig.  It was an event that they all looked forward to in their younger years.  Gary loved sports and was an avid ISU Cyclone supporter. He loved to talk sports with his father and brother.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Tamra; children, Dustin, Anna (Dave) Jordal; grandchildren; Taylor and Graham; parents, Clifford and LaVon Lewellyn; brother, Craig (Muriel) Lewellyn; sister Kathy (Doug) Blomker; numerous nieces and great nieces and a great nephew; a host of other family and friends; and his beloved dog Molly.
Gary was preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Cecelia Hazzard, Artie and Hattie (Dutler) Lewellyn, and step grandmother Cecil (Hare) Lewellyn.
Per his wishes, his body has been cremated prior to visitation and services.
