Judy K. Jensen, 66, of Humboldt, passed away February 4, 2012 at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital.  Funeral services will be 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at the Faith United Methodist Church in Humboldt.  Visitation will be prior to the services from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at the church.  The Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home of Humboldt is in charge of arrangements.

Judy is survived by her husband, Michael Jensen of Humboldt; daughters, Kris (Tim) Petersen of Forest City, DeAnn (Mike Schachtner) Merris of Humboldt, and Kimberly (Robert) Durkin of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Samantha, Scott, Sadie, and Sophia Carver, Merrisa and Matthew Petersen, Nick and Jenna Jones, and Will Durkin.  She was preceded in death by her parents and first husband, Bill Merris.

Judith Kay Smith, the daughter of Warren and Virginia (Johnson) Smith, was born July 31, 1945 at Fort Dodge, Iowa and was raised and educated at Humboldt.  Following her graduation from Humboldt High School in 1963, Judy attended Beauticians School in Sioux City.  She was united in marriage to William Merris on September 11, 1965 at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Humboldt. To this union, three daughters were born.  For three years, the couple made their home at Fort Leonardwood, Missouri while Bill served in the Army.  They returned to Humboldt and joined her parents in Smith Realty and Insurance.  In addition to staying busy nurturing her daughters, Judy also worked for the Fashionette and Carrie’s Bridal, and served as the Wedding Coordinator for the Faith United Methodist Church.    Bill passed away in early 2008.  On June 3, 2009, Judy was united in marriage to Mike Jensen and the couple made their home at Humboldt.

Judy was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church.  She will always be remembered by her family as a wonderful mother, homemaker, and supporter.  She will also be remembered for her talent with decorating and crafts.  She enjoyed her recent years with Mike traveling to Sanibel, Sedona, and Colorado along with their long weekend trips.

Memorials will be used to benefit the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital and Hospice.
