Michael R. Boughton, 69, of Hardy, passed away May 18, 2012 at Bergan Mercy Medical Center in Omaha, NE.  Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Faith United Methodist Church in Humboldt.  Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt.  Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Humboldt.

Michael Ray Boughton, the son of Ray and Esther (Heuton) Boughton, was born January 10, 1943 at Carroll, Iowa.  He was raised and educated at Glidden, Iowa.  Following his education, Michael enlisted into the United States Army and was stationed in Texas.  Following his discharge, he returned home and was employed as a farm hand, a welder, in the construction business, for Syntex Ind., and for Do Rite Pest Control.  He moved to Ohio, returning to Humboldt County in 1992.  Michael was also involved working in a racing pit crew, logging, and as a driver for the Co-City Bus.  On April 9, 1994, he was united in marriage to Brenda Klooster at Stanhope and the couple made their home on their acreage near Hardy.

Michael was an active participant in the Buck Skinner’s Rendezvous’ beginning in 1975.  He also enjoyed working with leather, sewing, his computer, playing cards, and spending time with family and friends.

Michael is survived by his wife, Brenda Boughton of Hardy; sons, Travis Boughton of Hardy and Michael Boughton, Jr. of Webster City; daughters, Ann Marie Hanus of St. Louis, MO, and Michelle Baker of Webster City; grandchildren, Sean and Josh Hanus, Jeff and Justin Bisbe, and Jake Fischer; great grandchildren, Tayt and Tessa; and his sister, Gloria May of Humboldt.
