Shawn Gardner, 36, of Humboldt, died October 14, 2014 at the Paul J. Baber Hospice House in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt followed by a motorcycle ride to ABATE Freedom Park and reception at the Sit ‘N Bull in Humboldt. Visitation is from 5-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Shawn is survived by his mother, Christina (Wayne) Rapple of Humboldt; father, James “Jim” (Angie) Gardner of Humboldt; his pit bull pup, Rally “Furbaby”; niece, Caitlin “Twerp” Rose Kimbrough of Eagle Grove; nephew, James David Gardner of Webster City; and his brother, James “Jim” (Amy Payne) Gardner of Webster City.

Shawn Gardner, the son of James Dean and Christina (Makerney) Gardner, was born August 13, 1978 at Hampton, Iowa. The family was living in Hampton at the time and Shawn started school there. In 1987, the family moved to Humboldt and Shawn attended Humboldt High School. Following his education, he went to work for Ag Parts for several years. He was later employed by Yacht Club, Hagie’s, Vantec, and ADS until his health no longer allowed him to work. Shawn was diagnosed with cancer 5 years ago and put up a strong, courageous fight until passing away on the morning of October 14, 2014 at the age of 36.

Shawn loved to ride his motorcycle. He was a long time member of ABATE of Iowa and served as Gate Chief for the Freedom Rally. He also liked spending time with his friends, going to the Sit N Bull, and tinkering with things in the garage. He was a talented artist and enjoyed designing tattoos.
