Sherry Gangstead Clark, 62, of Dakota City, passed away June 20, 2012 at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge.  Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Humboldt.  Interment will be in Indian Mound Cemetery, Humboldt.  Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt.

Sherry is survived by her daughter, Jamie Lynn (Eric) Brown of Dakota City; her mother, Beverly Gangstead of Dakota City; grandchildren, Kyle McBeth, Karter Simonsen, and Taylor Brown; and her sisters, Dr. Sandra “Sandy” Gangstead od Milledgeville, GA, and Eilleen Marie Pope of Boone.  She was preceded in death by her father, James Gangstead; aunt Marilyn Hockel; and uncle, Dale Patton.

Sherry Lynn Gangstead, the daughter of James and Beverly (Patton) Gangstead, was born September 28, 1949 at Fort Dodge, Iowa.  She was raised in Dakota City and graduated from Humboldt High School in 1967.  She married James Clark on May 5, 1968 and to this union one daughter, Jamie Lynn, was born.  The couple made their home in Tennessee where Sherry was employed as a bookkeeper and in insurance adjusting.  She also served as the Utility District Manager for the city of Lebanon, Tennessee.  Following the dissolution of her marriage, Sherry returned to Dakota City in 1992.  She attended Buena Vista College where she was a Phi Beta Kappa and earned a scholarship to Iowa State University where she graduated with honors with a degree in accounting.  She then established Clark Accounting and Tax Service in her home.

Sherry was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church.  She loved her cat and was an avid bowler and Cyclone fan.  She was a nature lover, especially watching birds.
