Stanley Reed

Stanley Reed, 67, of Humboldt, passed away January 18, 2012 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge.   Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home, Humboldt.  Visitation is from 1- 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Stanley Nolan Reed, the son of Lester and Elvira (Frakes) Reed, was born April 10, 1944 on a farm near Hardy.  He was raised and educated at Eagle Grove and graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1962.  On July 15, 1977, he was united in marriage to Sharon Dunn.  The couple made their home in the communities of Clarion, Renwick, Fort Dodge, and Livermore.  Stanley worked as a truck driver for many years and from 1988 – 1993 helped with farm work in the Ottosen area.  The Reed’s moved to Humboldt in June of 2010.

Stanley enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and reading science fiction novels.  He liked watching sports especially the Iowa Hawkeyes, Chicago Cubs, and the Green Bay Packers.  He also enjoyed raising rabbits and helping his children with their 4-H projects.  Above all, he loved spending time with his family and was very proud of his son Matthew’s service in the military.
