Veloris Celia Dotson

Veloris C. Dotson, 87, formerly of Humboldt, passed away December 1, 2016 at the Western Home in Cedar Falls. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 8, 2016 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Humboldt. Interment will be in Armstrong Grove Cemetery, Armstrong, Iowa. Visitation is from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt.
Veloris Celia Dotson was born May 11, 1929 in Armstrong, Iowa. She passed away Thursday, December 1, 2016. She was the daughter of Peter and Minnie (Askeland) Peterson. She grew up in the Armstrong area and graduated from Armstrong High School in 1947. She married Merlin (Ike) Dotson on July 27, 1947, in Armstrong. He passed away in 1993.
They lived in the Armstrong-Ringsted-Gruver area until 1966, when they moved to Columbus, Nebraska, moving to Humboldt in 1967. Mrs. Dotson was employed in the office of Mid-Continent Lumber in Fort Dodge for 22 years, retiring in 1996. She was active in Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, in Humboldt, until she moved to Cedar Falls, Iowa, in 2011.
She is survived by sons Gerald (Pam), Vacaville, Calif., and Brian (Donna) Algona, five grandchildren; six great grand children; two brothers, Kenneth (Lois) Peterson of Coon Rapids, Minn., and Maurice (Mary) Peterson of Fairmont, Minn.
Her parents preceded her in death, as did her daughter, Coreen. Four sisters, Ruth Marie Peterson, Clarice (Orlean) Grant, Marian (Lavern) Valen, Martha (John) Natterstad a brother, Harlan (Betty) Peterson, also preceded her in death.
