Vernon Ray Sullivan, the son of Lloyd and Lois (Haines) Sullivan, was born May 30, 1947 at Remsen, Iowa.  He made his home with his family in various communities until the death of his mother when he moved to the Boys and Girls Home in Sioux City.  Following his education, Vern enlisted into the United States Army and served in Vietnam as a tunnel rat.  Following his honorable discharge, Vern married Scherry Geigle and the couple made their home in Sioux City where he was employed in the packing plants.  The marriage was later dissolved and in 1990, he moved to Clarion before moving to Webster City.  Vern loved to attend dances where he met Linda Hjelmeland.  The couple were later united in marriage and made their home in Rutland where Vern owned and operated Sully’s Bait and Tackle Shop.

Vern was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and camping.  He loved animals especially his dog, Pee Wee.  His family will always remember him as a man talented with his hands and a jack-of-all-trades and also a jokester.
