Anne L. Renquist, 86, of Humboldt, died September 1, 2014 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. A Mass of Christian Burial, celebrated by Fr. James Tigges, will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Humboldt. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Humboldt. A Parish Rosary will be Thursday at 4:45 p.m. at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt followed by visitation with the family from 5-7 p.m

Anne is survived by her children, Dennis Renquist of Humboldt, Mary (Alan) Tofteberg of Bode, and Jane (Robert) McBurney of Humboldt; grandchildren, Anthony McBurney, Joanna Byrd, Joseph McBurney, Shane Tofteberg, Sarah Chambers, and Joshua McBurney; great-grandchildren, Breanna Byrd, Joshua Byrd, Tyler McBurney, Matthew Byrd, Mason Byrd, Kaden McBurney, Landon McBurney, Jackson Chambers, and Carson Chambers; and sisters, Nelly Thoms of Reinbeck and Katie McKibban of Livermore. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dan and Dorothy (Rathke) Malkmus; her husband, John Renquist; brother, Pete Malkmus; and infant sister, Margaret Malkmus.

Anne Louise Malkmus, the daughter of Dennis “Dan” and Dorothy (Rathke) Malkmus, was born November 22, 1927 on a farm near Livermore, Iowa. She was raised on the farm and attended school in the country and in Humboldt and graduated from St. Joe. She was united in marriage to John M. Renquist in 1948 and the couple made their home on a farm near Livermore. In 1965, Anne went to work in the Accounts Receivables department of Dodgen Industries where she remained for over 30 years. The family moved to Humboldt in 1972. In 1994, Mr. Renquist passed away and Anne continued to maintain her home in Humboldt. In August of 2012, Anne became a resident of the Humboldt Care Center North.

Anne was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and St. Mary’s Society. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and enjoyed her participation in birthday club. She enjoyed reading, gardening, knitting and crocheting. An avid bowler, Anne participated in bowling league and the Iowa Games where she won a gold medal.
