Bonita “Bonnie” Alexander, 80, of Humboldt, passed away May 16, 2008 at the Long Term Care Unit of the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital. Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday May 20, 2008 in the chapel of the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Humboldt. Visitation is from 5-7 p.m. Monday at the Funeral Home.
Mrs. Alexander is survived by her daughter, Susan (Cecil) Rezabek of Humboldt; grandchildren, Jason, Justin, and Joshua Andersen, and Jenna Rezabek; brother, Miles (Edna) Holden of Humboldt; and sister, Joyce Wilke of Tipton, IA.
Bonita Holden the daughter of Oscar and Marie (Hansen) Holden, was born September 12, 1927 on the family farm west of Bode. She was baptized and confirmed in the St. Olaf Lutheran Church at Bode. She attended grade school at Maple Lawn until 1942 when she moved with her parents to Humboldt. She graduated from Humboldt High School in 1946 and furthered her education at Waldorf College where she graduated with a degree in elementary Education in 1948. On January 29, 1949, she was united in marriage to Vernon Alexander at the First Lutheran Church in Humboldt. They spent all of their 28 years of marriage farming the home place west of Bode. In the year 1976, Bonnie as she was better known, lost her mother in March, her husband, Vernon in September, and her father in November. Also preceding her in death where her infant son, Mark; and sisters, Bernice Coyle, and Violet Berge.
She was a member of the St. Olaf Lutheran Church at Bode. She enjoyed making Norwegian cookies at Christmas and sharing them with her friends and relatives. She also enjoyed candy making and was known as a good cook.
