Funeral services for Charles Traw, 82, of Humboldt will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt. Visitation with the family will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt.
Mr. Traw is survived by his daughters, Christine Hoff of Fort Dodge, Pamela (Ted) Montgomery of Forest City, and Debra (Mike) Collins of Bode; son, Rick (Kim) Traw of Cedar Falls; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Glenda Severson of Webster City; as well as many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Geraldine; son-in-law, Darrell Hoff; brother, Gail Traw; and sisters, Pauline Brady and Wilma Faulkner.
Charles Traw Jr. the son of Charles Luther and Maud Belle (Spaulding) Traw, was born September 14, 1927 in Adelphi, Iowa. He was raised in the Runnels area and attended East High School in Des Moines. Following his education Charles enlisted in the United States Marine Corps serving during the tail end of WWII. He was honorably discharged in 1947 and enrolled in Technical School. On June 5, 1949 he was united in marriage to Geraldine Presler at the First Baptist Church in Fort Dodge. The couple made their home in Des Moines until 1956 when they moved to Humboldt when Charles opened C&G Radio and TV. In 1969 they closed the store and Mr. Traw went to work for Woodman Electric. In 1982 Charles took up work in television and satellite sales until his retirement.
Charles was a long time Iowa Hawkeye football season ticket holder and was an avid fan of the Hawkeyes. He also enjoyed fishing and camping. Mr. Traw was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church, the Humboldt Kiwanis, the American Legion, and Rifle Club.
