HUMBOLDT – Dean Harklau, 72, of Humboldt, died Saturday, May 15, 2010 at his home at 5 Maplewood.

Funeral Services will be 3:30 p.m. Friday, May 21 at the Zion Lutheran Church, 1005 11 Ave. N., Humboldt, with Pastor Jerry Raether, Pastor Aaron Flatau and Pastor A. Robert Moldrem officiating.  Burial will be in Humboldt at Union Cemetery.  Visitation is 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 20 at Zion Lutheran Church, 1005 11 Ave. N., Humboldt.  The Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by his wife, Judy; children Cory Harklau of Livermore, Julie Heiter and husband Roger of Humboldt, Drew Harklau and wife Stephanie of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Kent Harklau and wife Pam of Clarion; grandchildren Nikki Holland and husband Josh of Ames, Gavin Heiter of Humboldt, Janelle Harklau of Dakota City, Joel Harklau and fiancé Cassie Foth of Goldfield, Brenna Harklau of Otho, Andrew Harklau of Fort Lauderdale, FL; step grandchildren Luke & Noah Maxheimer of Clarion; great grandchild Shaylee Holland of Ames; and siblings, Darlene Roach, Rolland Harklau, Ellis Harklau, Beverly Busse, Roger Harklau and Darrell Harklau.  He was preceded in death by his father Oliver Harklau, mother Lena Harklau, brother Marion, infant brother Larry Harklau, and infant great grandchild Dillon Heiter.

He was born January 9, 1938 in Fort Dodge.  Dean married his high school sweetheart Judith Vera Pearson at Our Savior’s Lutheran on June 15, 1958.  He was employed by HLT Ltd. Yacht Club trailers for 19 years and retired in 2009.  He also owned and operated Breezy Mills building windmills for the last 10 years.
