Debra Anne Corbin

d. September 18, 2014

A celebration of life has been held for Corbin Ann Wilcox, 56 of Humboldt. The Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt is assisting the family.

Debra Anne Corbin was born in Phoenix, Arizona March 13, 1958 to Kenneth and Judith (Jeronen) Corbin. She grew up in Phoenix and attended school until the 9th grade, but she found the call of wandering life to be urgent. She was too young to have been at Woodstock, but she made up for that by adopting a lifestyle of a “hippie gypsy”. Among her stops along the way were such places as San Francisco, the hub of hippie culture. She traveled to Maine where she communicated with nature and lived in North Carolina. She married Charles Wilcox in 1985. At this time she changed her first name to Corbin, and was thereafter known as Corbin Anne Wilcox. Corbin and Charles separated shortly after their marriage, and Corbin received word in 2004 that he had passed away. Corbin earned her living as a typesetter and graphics designer during these earlier years. In 199 she met Kenny “Bozo” Terwilliger in Phoenix. They established a relationship, and Bozo convinced her to move to Iowa. Corbin worked in construction putting up pole buildings, until an accidental fall caused injuries that made it impossible for her to return to work. She remained in Iowa until the untimely end of her self-described “interesting life” September 18, 2014.

People acquainted with Corbin always knew where they stood with her. She never pulled punches, and told everyone what was on her mind. There was no middle ground; she either liked you or had no time for you. She was an avid fisherman and spent many hours at her favorite fishing hole, the Rutland dam. Corbin had artistic interests such as jewelry making, painting, and gardening. She had a long term obsession with a Mazda RX7, which was her favorite automobile. She enjoyed her grandchildren and had a special relationship with Nevaeh.

Corbin leaves behind a host of people to cherish her memory including her mother Judy Moody of Phoenix, AZ, father Kenneth Corbin, children Steven Corbin of Arizona, Savanah Ladd of Humboldt, Samantha Frock of Humboldt, and Talon Ladd of Webster City. Her grandchildren include Nevaeh Frock, Gage Frock, Melanie Frock, Billy “Bud” Frock, Dominick Degner, and Zachariah Lewis. A great-grandchild Alexander is due to arrive later this year. Surviving siblings include a brother, Steven Corbin and a sister Tina Moody, both living in Arizona. Also remaining is her long time companion Kenny “Bozo” Terwilliger. Preceding Corbin death were her brothers Nick and Richard Corbin.
