Diane M. Markman, 58, of Lees Summit, Missouri, died June 18, 2009 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Lees Summit. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Renwick with the Rev. Lynn Noel officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church. Interment will be in Vernon Township Cemetery, Hardy.
Diane is survived by her parents, George and Vivian Markman of Hardy; brother, Roger (Ramona) Markman of Renwick; sister, Renee (Rick) Boevers of Nerstrand, MN; nephews, Benjamin and Matthew Markman both of Sioux Falls, SD; great niece and nephew, Hannah, Austin, and Samuel Markman; and many many friends and relatives. She was preceded in death by her grandparents. Clyde and Maysel Thompson, and Fred and Katherine Markman.
Diane Marie Markman, the daughter of George and Vivian (Thompson) Markman, was born April 26, 1951 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Dodge, Iowa. She was raised on a farm near Renwick and received her education at Twin River Valley Schools. A desire for a career as an airline stewardess took Diane to Kansas City where she completed airline school and received her wings. She also completed other business courses and became employed by Fike Incorporated in Kansas City for many years.
Diane’s love for horses and animals of all kinds was great and her quarter horses were her pride and joy. She was a member of the American Kansas City Royal Horse Association and had received many trophies and ribbons for riding and equestrian jumping. She also enjoyed helping children and beginners to ride. She was a member of the Missouri Federation of Business and Professional Women’s Club. She also deeply loved children and sponsored Gersen Hernandez, a Honduras child for many years.
Diane was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where she participated in bible school, and received pins for perfect attendance at Sunday School.
