Dorothy G. Larson, 85, of Humboldt, passed away July 25, 2011 at Tompkins Health Care Center in Fort Dodge.  Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Humboldt with the Rev. Gene Broughton officiating.  Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Humboldt.  Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt.

Mrs. Larson is survived by her husband of 64 years, Norman of Humboldt; son, Gregory (Charlene) Larson of Tucson, AZ; daughter, Lisa (Steve) Klobe of Lester Prairie, MN; grandchildren, Matthew Larson, Brock Klobe, and Erin Klobe; brother, Carl (Betty) Snow of Edgewood, NM; sister-in-law, Rose Marie Larson of Lincoln, NE; nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Mallie and Rose Snow; mother and father-in-law, Richard and Anna Marie Larson; and brother-in-law, Merlyn Larson.

Dorothy Gibson Snow, the daughter of Mallie and Rose (Gibson) Snow, was born January 8, 1926 at Tekamah, Nebraska.  She was raised on a farm near Tekamah and attended Alder Grove Country School.  Following her graduation from High School at Craig, NE, Dorothy attended Wayne State Teachers College and taught in Nebraska country schools.  She was united in marriage to Norman Larson on August 17, 1947 at the First Methodist Church in Tekamah and the couple made their home at Renwick, Iowa where Norman was employed by the railroad.  Dorothy continued her education at the University of Northern Iowa and taught in the Vernon Consolidated and Boone Valley School Districts at Renwick until her retirement 20 years ago when they moved to Humboldt.

Dorothy was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church where she was active in ELCW and was a past member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Renwick.  She was also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Retired Teachers, Humboldt Women’s Club, and the Humboldt Hospital Auxiliary.  An avid reader, Dorothy was a member of two reading groups and enjoyed flowers and birds, baking, shopping, and coffee with her church friends.  Above all, Dorothy cherished the time spent with her children and grandchildren.
