Ellen Rose White, the daughter of William and Betsy White, was born October 21, 1920 in Webster City, Iowa.  She grew up on the family farm near Bells Mill in Hamilton County.  She graduated from Lincoln High School in Webster City in 1939.  In 1940, she was united in marriage to Glenn M. Hansen at the Little Brown Church at Nashua.  They had four sons and one daughter.  Ellen and Glenn farmed in the Goldfield and Woolstock area until moving to Humboldt in 1960.  Together they owned and operated Hansen’s Cabinet Shop until retiring in 1981.  While Glenn built many fine cabinets in the Humboldt area very little left the shop without Ellen’s hand sanding and final approval.  Throughout her working career and into retirement she always had time for a cup of coffee with her many friends.  She had a lifelong interest in anything western.  She was also very active in the Izaak Walton League holding several offices both locally and state wide.  Ellen began her Methodist Church membership at the Homer Church and was a current member of the Faith United Methodist Church in Humboldt.  Several pieces of Glenn and Ellen’s work can still be found in the Moorehouse educational wing of the church.
