Marie was born on July 26, 1906 in Sioux City, Iowa.  The family later moved to  farm in northern Minnesota where she grew up and received her education. On April 17, 1925 she married Chester C. Severson  To this union they were blessed with five children: Jean (Duane) Robinson, deceased; Norman (Florence) Severson; Ardis Fevold Sansgaard; Beverly (Richard) Keen; and Sheryl (Jerry) Lundien. Marie and her family moved from Ankeny to Humboldt in 1947.  They made their home in the Mill Farm in Dakota City and both worked for Harold Knight at Knight’s Cottage Cheese. After her husband’s death Marie worked as a nurse’s aide at Sisson’s Nursing Home, and at the age of seventy-nine years retired from the South Care Center.  Due to her failing eyesight Marie moved to Ames to be near her daughter Ardis. She lived in her own apartment at Stonehaven for nearly fifteen years before returning to Humboldt due to failing health.  She was a resident of South Care Center for four months.
Marie liked to stay busy.  She was a professional seamstress, loved gardening, especially  flowers . quilting, knitting, and lots of embroidery work, and many other crafts such as doll painting and making teddy bears.  Marie made her own birthday and Christmas cards for many years with each family member receiving one every year. And who could forget her love for the Chicago Cubs baseball team?  She loved all the many luncheons she attended being a member of her Red Hat Society group while living in Ames.  The greatest love of her life was her family and those many family members loved her in return.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ethel Sweet, her husband Chester, her daughter Jean, sister Lucille, and many other family members and friends.
