Frances E. Fevold, 90, of Badger, passed away November 8, 2010 at her home.  Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt.  Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Fevold is survived by her son, Ladean Fevold of Badger and daughter, Lynda Cribben of Fort Dodge; 6 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ernest; brother, Arthur Helvik; and sister, Ethel Tokheim.

Frances Elaine Helvik, the daughter of John and Bertha (Murdock) Helvik, was born August 28, 1920 on a farm in Humboldt County.  She was raised on a farm south of Thor and graduated from Thor High School in 1939.  She moved with her parents to Bode where she was employed in the Eastman Studio for three years.

She was united in marriage to Ernest Fevold in Alexandria, Minnesota in 1942.  Following Ernest’s induction into the Army, the couple made their home during basic training in Salt Lake City where Frances was employed in a photography studio, Berkley, California where she worked in a hotel, and Euphoria, Washington where she was employed in the county Superintendent Office.  Frances then returned home when Ernest was sent overseas and was employed in the Wittman Ford Garage in Humboldt.  Following Ernest’s discharge in 1946, the couple took over the family farming operations.  They raised over 25,000 chickens for Bayse Hatchery and she also worked for Morten Frozen Foods in Webster City.  For 27 years, Frances served as the cashier for the Trinity Regional Medical Center cafeteria until her retirement in 1991.  Mr. Fevold passed away in 2005 and Frances continued to maintain her home on the farm until her death.
