Frank Timothy Kirby, the son of Edward and Margaret (Miller) Kirby, was born March 3, 1908 on the family farm west of Gilmore City.  He received his education at Gilmore City and following the death of his father, Frank cared for the family by assuming the farming operations.  On January 10, 1940, he was united in marriage to Evelyn Weishaar.  The couple farmed together for many years in Pocahontas County west of Gilmore City.  In 1973 they retired and moved to Humboldt where they built their home.  In his retirement Frank continued to help area farmers in the spring and fall.

Frank was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.  He will be remembered for his inventive mind on the farm and wouldn’t miss the Clay County Fair in September.  He enjoyed making puzzles, wind chimes, and walnut art, which included rosaries, bowls of all sizes, cups and chalices, candleholders, and miniature churches.  He and Evelyn spent many winters in Yuma, Arizona and loved card playing and dancing together.
