Harold A. Abbas, 80, of Humboldt, passed away December 31, 2010 at the Good Samaritan Center in Algona. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel of the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt. Visitation will be 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Funeral Home.
Harold is survived by 5 brothers and 3 sisters: Christina (Bob) Christen of Cambridge, Wi, John (Mary) Abbas of Milford, Mi., Margery Asche of Bancroft, Ia., Ted (Sandy) Abbas of Bancroft, Ia., Delbert (Janice) Abbas of Humboldt, Ia., Derold (Ruby) Abbas of Lake, Mi., Elmer (Carol) Abbas of Buffalo, MN, Judy (Greg) Arrowood of Mason City, IA; Stepchildren, Frank Bastian of des Moines, Tim (Roberta) Bastian of Humboldt, and Rennie (Bob) Hellickson of Des Moines; Nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 1 great -great granddaughter
Harold is also survived by many nieces and nephews. His parents, his beloved wife, Louise on May 16, 2009 and his sister, Arlene Pate, preceded him in death.
Harold August Abbas was born on November 23, 1930 at Buffalo Center, Iowa to Thues and Lena Hundt Abbas. He attended schools at Buffalo Center and Titonka, Iowa. He was a member of the Lutheran Church. After his schooling, Harold started trucking in Bancroft, Iowa and later moved to Humboldt, Iowa and owned the Hoot Owl Express Trucking Co.
Harold married Louise Bastian on August 13, 1966 at Humboldt, Iowa. The couple lived in Humboldt until their retirement and than moved to the Des Moines area to be closer to family. On March 9, 2010 he entered the Good Samaritan Home in Algona, Iowa and died there on December 31, 2010 at the age of 80.
Harold enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s ballgames and family dinners with his beloved Louise.
