Harold E. Overgaard, 75 of Dakota City, passed away on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital.
He was born June 4, 1943 in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, the son of Bernus L. and Rose (Warland) Overgaard. The family made their home in Easton, Washington and at an early age he moved to Iowa. He graduated from Humboldt High School in 1961 and started his employment in the grocery business before moving to Bob Mickey Ford in Fort Dodge and later Design Homes and later Humboldt Sausage, retiring in 2005 where he spent 28 years.. He was united in marriage to Janet Eva Schimmel on May 20, 1965. The couple made their home in Humboldt. Harold enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. For a number of years, he was the caretaker of the Rutland City Park Camp ground, a job he especially enjoyed.
He is survived by his wife, Janet of Dakota City, son, Kevin (Lisa) Overgaard of Ankeny, daughter, Deanna (Michael) Knudson of Humboldt, his grandchildren, Andrew, Nathan, Elizabeth, Katherine, Joey, Sarah, Erica and Aaron, his great-grandchildren, Jared & Riley, his brother, Bernell (Carol) Overgaard of Texas and his sister, Janet Mae (LeRoy) Larson of Custer, South Dakota. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Gordon, Norman, Richard and Lowell.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 8th, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. until the Service of Remembrance at 11:00 a.m. at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral & Cremation Service, Humboldt.
