Irene K. Hemerson, 90, of Bradgate, passed away October 9, 2011 at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital.  Funeral services will b 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the Faith  United Methodist Church in Gilmore City with the Rev. Walden Paige Officiating.  Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Humboldt.  Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt.
Irene K. Kleppe, the daughter of Charles and Augusta (Rixe) Kleppe, was born July 5, 1921 on a farm in the Stanwood and Clarence, Iowa area.  She attended country schools and following her education, was employed by area farm families.  Learning of domestic job opportunities at Bradgate, Irene moved with her oldest son, Ronald, to Bradgate where she was employed by various families.  It was with the Hemerson family where Irene met Russell.  They were united in marriage in March of 1952 and the couple made their home on the family farm in Avery Township.  Mr. Hemerson passed away in 1959 and Irene assumed the farming operations and raised her three sons.  Mrs. Hemerson remained on the farm that had been in the Hemerson family for 153 years until the time of her death.

Irene was a life long member of the Methodist Church having been baptized and confirmed in the Tipton Methodist Church and attended the Faith United Methodist Church at Bradgate.  She was an active member of the Red Cross where she participated in many drives and served as the chairperson for Avery Township.  She enjoyed card playing and was a member of the Luck 13 and 500 Card Clubs.  She took great pride in supporting the local and farming communities and was a member of the Farm Bureau and enjoyed attending REC Meetings.  An avid crocheter, Irene created many beautiful gifts for her friends and family.  She was proud of her strawberry patch and enjoyed trivia, watching Jeopardy on Television and calling in to radio trivia contests on KHBT.
Irene is survived by her sons, Ronald (Phyllis) Warren of Bradgate, Dennis (Lisa Brennan) Hemerson of North Liberty, and Albert (Kym) Hemerson of Gilmore City; seven grandchildren, Melissa, Andrea, John, Russell, Kathryn, Phyllis, and Sarah; and great grandchildren, Ashley, Anna, Kaiden, Benjamin, and Jacob.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Russell; and ten brothers and sisters.
