James A. Hirsch, 60, of Humboldt, passed away July 8, 2010 at his home.  Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Faith United Methodist Church in Humboldt with the Rev. Jan Burnett officiating.  Interment will be in Indian Mound Cemetery.  Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt.
Jim is survived by his stepchildren, Tony (Kitty) Cirks of Des Moines, Belinda (Danny) Harville of Louisville, KY, Christina (Matt) Pallof of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Dale Cirks of San Antonio, and Eric (Lori) Cirks of Dallas Center; 8 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and sister, Elaine Jennings of Washington, Iowa.  He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rosalind; and granddaughter Angela Cirks.
James A. Hirsch, the son of Ivan and Jean (Koppe) Hirsch, was born October 23, 1949 at Fort Dodge, Iowa.  He was raised and educated at Rutland, graduating from Humboldt High School in 1967.  Jim enlisted into the United States Navy and served in the Mediterranean Theater during the Vietnam War.  Following his honorable discharge, he returned home and was employed by the Rutland Elevator until working in the trucking industry for many years.  He was united in marriage to Rosalind Cirks on January 22, 1977.  The couple made their home at Rutland and Humboldt.  Mrs. Hirsch passed away in 2006 and Jim continued to maintain his home at Humboldt until his death.
Jim was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5240.  He enjoyed watching sports, especially Yankee’s Baseball, Bowling, movies, and above all spending time with his grandchildren.
Alice M. Larson, the daughter of Lawrence and Gertrude (Romer) Larson, was born July 20, 1922 near Badger.  She was raised near Badger and attended Blossom Hill School.  Following her education, Alice was employed by the Tent and Awning Company and helped area families with domestic work.  After Kermit’s return from World War II, the couple was united in marriage on January 21, 1945 at Fort Dodge.  The couple made their home on a farm near Badger where they began their farming operations.  They then moved to their farm near Thor where Alice enjoyed helping her husband on the farm and with his construction business.  The couple retired in 1983 and continued to maintain their home until moving together to the Humboldt Care Center North in 2006.  Kermit passed away in June of 2008.

Alice enjoyed painting, including rosemaling, baking, and gardening.  She especially enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
