Jeanette Ramaekers

Jeanette C. Ramaekers, 90, of Humboldt, passed away April 19, 2015 at the Humboldt Care Center South. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Humboldt. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Humboldt. Visitation is from 5-8 p., Wednesday in the chapel of the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt with a Parish Rosary at 7:00 p.m.
Jeanette Catherine Miller, the daughter of Peter and Frances (Stilling) Miller, was born July 21, 1924 at Ringwood, Illinois. She was raised and educated there and worked as domestic help in area homes. During World War II, Jeanette went to work manufacturing aircraft parts for the war effort and later worked as a cashier in a grocery store.
On August 28, 1946, she was united in marriage to Elmer Ramaekers at Johnsberg, Illinois. The couple settled in Jefferson, Iowa where they began farming. The family then moved to Hardy where they continued farming until moving to Humboldt in 1984. Mr. Ramaekers passed away in 1988 and Jeanette continued to maintain her home until becoming a resident of the Humboldt Care Centers in 2009.
Jeanette was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She kept a large garden and was a member of the garden club. An accomplished seamstress, she enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and needlework and took pride in her homemaking.
Mrs. Ramaekers is survived by her children, Barry (Robin) Ramaekers of Humboldt, Bruce (Lois) Ramaekers of Sioux City, Elaine (Mark) Schultz of Humboldt, Mary (Robert) George of South St. Paul, MN, Judy (John) Deimel of Humboldt, Brad (Cindy) Ramaekers of Humboldt, and Chris (Marla) Ramaekers of Humboldt; 14 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; brothers, Walter (Barbara) Miller of Illinois and Jack (Irene) Miller of Wisconsin; sisters, Luella May, Marilyn Benoy, and Betty Smith, all of Illinois; and brother-in-law, Allen Lansdown. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elmer Ramaekers; daughter, Myrna Lansdown; brother Alvin, Gerald, Roman, and Donnie Miller; and sister, Dolores May. In leau of flowers, memorials may be made to the discretion of the family.
