Jerry Lee Paulson, the son of Edwin and Doris (Wearmouth) Paulson, was born July 14, 1933 at Rutland, Iowa. He was raised at Rutland and graduated from Rutland High School as the President of the class of 1951. Following his education, Jerry enjoyed his work as a truck driver. He was united in marriage to Janiece Larsen on October 31, 1954. In January of 1955, he was drafted into the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Sill, Oklahoma until his honorable discharge in January of 1957.
Jerry and Janiece began farming together and raising their four sons near Bradgate. Jerry loved to farm and took great pride in caring for his land. In addition to raising crops, their farming operation included raising Black Angus calves, hogs, and chickens. After 42 years of farming, the couple retired and moved to Gilmore City.
Jerry was a member of the Rutland Trinity Lutheran Church and served on various local boards and organizations. He loved to travel with Janiece, visiting England, Mexico, and Canada, as well as all 50 states and especially enjoyed the many winters the couple spent in Texas. He enjoyed supporting community events and volunteering to help people in anyway he could and he was especially proud of his participation in the 2014 Honor Flight to Washington D.C.
