"Lois" Maxine Early Lundien

“Lois” Maxine Early Lundien, 97, of Humboldt, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2010 at the South Care Center in Humboldt.  Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday at the Faith United Methodist Church in Humboldt with the Rev. Jan Burnett officiating.  Visitation will be prior to the services at the church.
Maxine was born November 18, 1912 in Dumont, Iowa to Vernon Clyde and Clarabelle (McNeilus) Early.  After graduating from high school and obtaining a teacher’s certificate from Iowa State Teacher’s College in Cedar Falls, Maxine taught at a one room country school house for a short while.  She married Raymond Andrew Gustave Lundien on November 4, 1936 and the couple moved to Humboldt to open a Case Implement shop.  Maxine took care of the bookwork for their business for several years.  She was a very active member of the Humboldt Faith United Methodist Church and held numerous posts in the church’s women’s groups.  She was also a member of the Odd Fellows Rebecca Lodge for many years.  She was an avid Gardener and loved to play bridge.

Mrs. Lundien is survived by her son Jerry (Sheryl) Lundien of Springfield, Missouri; her daughter, Avis (Wilhelm) Gardere of Port-au-Prince, Haiti; 4 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and her brother Sydney Early.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1968; and her siblings, Katherine, Margaret, Donald, TM, and Claire.
