Mitchel L. Christensen

Mitch Christensen, 65, of Humboldt, passed away, following a courageous battle with ALS, on Sunday evening, October 9, 2022, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge.

Mitchel Lee Christensen, the son of Emmert and Corrine (Jorgensen) Christensen, was born on May 19, 1957, in Audubon, Iowa. He graduated from Atlantic High School in 1975 and then went on to graduate from Iowa State University in 1988 with a B.S. Degree in Agricultural Business.
On October 27, 1979, Mitch was united in marriage with Deborah Brehmer in Bayard, Iowa. The couple made their home in Bayard and many communities throughout Iowa, including Newton, and Coon Rapids before moving to Humboldt in 2014. Mitch’s love for farming led him to his lifelong career as an Agronomist, including 25 years as a Certified Crop Advisor. During his career he worked for GROWMARK FS, Garst Seed Company, Syngenta and Corteva Agriscience, retiring from Corteva in April 2022.
Mitch was an active member of Oak Hill Church – serving on the Board of Trustees and as an usher. He was also a member of the Lions Club and city emergency services while living in Coon Rapids.
Mitch enjoyed the outdoors, vacationing with his family in Mexico, attending his grandchildren’s events, ISU football, the Kansas City Chiefs and Sunday Night Popcorn! He loved to attend Drag Racing and Tractor Pull events with his sons.

Mitch is survived by his wife of 43 years Deborah of Humboldt; mother, Corrine Christensen of Dighton, Kansas; sons, Cheyne Christensen (Sarah) of Manson and Aaron Christensen (Larry Smith) of Ankeny; daughter-in-law, Abby James of Bayard; nine grandchildren: Harrison, Landon, Makayla, Kylie, Brycen and Blake James and Conner, Courtney and Gavin Christensen; brothers, Mark Christensen (Judy) of Seymour, Missouri and Matt Christensen of Phillipsburg, Kansas; sister, Marla Evans (Randy) of Dighton, Kansas; aunts; an uncle and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Mitch was preceded in death by his father; son, Justin James and brother, Marty Christensen.

Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 15, 2022, at Oak Hill Church in Humboldt. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 14, at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral & Cremation Service, Humboldt. www.masonlindhart.com
