Myrtle Williams, 103, of Humboldt, died April 28, 2013 at the South Care Center in Humboldt. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 4, 2013 in the chapel of Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home.
The visitation for Myrtle will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. The Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home of Humboldt is in charge of arrangements.
Myrtle Williams was born February 20, 1910 to Eric and Lena (Michaelson) Williams in Humboldt County. As a child she lived with her parents on farms in Humboldt County, Iowa and Watonwan County, MN.
She attended rural schools in those areas and graduated from high school at Jewell, Iowa. She attended Iowa State Teachers College, now UNI, at Cedar Falls, Iowa. Myrtle taught in rural schools in Humboldt County and intermediate grades in a few public schools in Iowa. Later she was employed by her cousin, Dr. Beryl Michaelson, at her medical clinic in Dakota City, Iowa until Dr. Michaelson retired in 1972.
Myrtle made her home with her maternal aunts Mrs. Josephine Helvick from 1947 until 1983 and Mrs. Berenice Westre from 1983 until 1992.
Myrtle is survived be three nieces, Eunice Broughton of St. James, MN, Audrey Peterson of Eden Prairie, MN, Maxine Sayler of Lakewood, CO, and by one nephew Arden Williams of St. James, MN.
Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Herman and sister-in-law, Anna, two nephews, Eugene and Lyle Williams and four infant brothers.
