Norma N. Olson

Norma N. Olson, 83, of Humboldt, passed away November 7, 2009 at the Humboldt Care Center North. Funeral services will be at 11:00am Wednesday at the Faith United Methodist Church with the Rev David Hobbs officiating. Visitation will be from 5 - 8 pm today at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt.
Mrs. Olson is survived by her children, Stewart (and special friend Gloria Perry) Olson of Chattanooga, TN, and Claudia (Brian) Ernst of Humboldt; her special friend, Charlie Miller of Humboldt; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Amelia (Scott), and Conner Ernst, Rachael Poziviak, and Robert and Blakely Olson; great granddaughters, Kiera Ernst, Melinda Olson, Aaliyah Elder, and Shannon Buster; and sisters, Treva Wooster and Wilma Erdmann both of Humboldt. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edwin; sister, Margaret Gonzagowski; and daughter-in-law, Melinda.
Norma Nadine Olson, the daughter of Herbert and Annie (Joliffe) Blake was born on May 28, 1926 on a farm near Bradgate, Iowa. In 1939, the family moved to a home east of Livermore. Norma graduated in 1943 from the Vernon Township School and following her education, she worked for the DeKalb Seed Corn Co. in DeKalb, Illinois. She returned home and worked as a bookkeeper for the Humboldt COOP Creamery. She was united in marriage to Edwin Olson on May 18, 1947 in her mother’s home in Humboldt. The couple made their home in Humboldt where Norma worked as a homemaker raising her children. In 1959, the family moved to their home on Elmhurst Drive where she remained until her death. Mr. Olson passed away in 1987.
Norma was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church. She enjoyed golfing, card playing, and the many winters spent in Texas and Arizona. Above all she enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
