Richard M. Hewitt, 85, of LuVerne, passed away October 6, 2012, at the Humboldt Care Center North. Graveside funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Friday, October 19, 2012 at the LuVerne Cemetery. The Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home of Humboldt is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Hewitt is survived by his wife of 62 years, Beverly Hewitt of LuVerne; daughter, Raejean (David) Thilges of Bode; son, Michael Hewitt of LuVerne; two sisters, Beverly Halsrud of Humboldt, and Nadine Wolfe of West Bend; four grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and 13 brothers and sisters.
Richard M. Hewitt, the son of Hiram and Clarice (Stoddard) Hewitt, was born October 16, 1926. He was raised in Livermore and graduated from Livermore High School. Following his graduation, Richard enlisted in the United States Army. After his honorable discharge, he married Beverly Thomas on June 12, 1950. He worked in Algona until his retirement.
He enjoyed raising a large garden and woodworking.
