Robert LeRoy Marchant was born at home on Sept. 30, 1927. His parents were Frank E. and Edna (Bradbury) Marchant. He graduated from Bradgate High School and was married to Mary Ellen Johnson on June 4, 1950. Bob began farming at Bradgate, then near Badger for six years, and then moved to Humboldt in 1966. He worked with Vote House Moving and later was employed over 25 years at A.B.C. Seamless Siding before retiring in December of 1995. Mary Ellen passed away in May 1974, and Bob remarried Marjorie (Wolcott) Tubbs on Dec. 31, 1974. Early in his life, Bob loved hunting, fishing, and playing cards. Throughout his life, he enjoyed raising a large garden and giving away the produce. In his retirement he enjoyed working on puzzles, cryptograms, and watching and feeding wildlife at his home on the farm. His family was the pride of his life, and he loved to reminisce about the stories of mischievous pranks and fun he had with all of them. His most cherished recent possession was his 2 small dogs, Princess, and Maxter Baxter and enjoyed caring for them and the companionship they gave to him.
Bob is survived by his children, Beth (Roger) Collins of Livermore, Rebecca Marchant of Atlanta, Georgia, David Marchant of Los Angeles, CA, and Dorothy (Kevin) Goodell of Gilmore City; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; step children, Terry (Sandy) Tubbs of Chokio, MN., Rhonda Tubbs of Renville, MN., and Rocky (Steve) Winters of Seaside, Oregon; sisters, LaVonne Lanus of Humboldt, Jeanne (Raymond) Bond of Des Moines and Betty Bradburn of Emmetsburg; brother Frank (Donna) Marchant of Gilmore City; and many extended family members and loving nieces and nephews with many special memories of "Uncle Bob".

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Ellen; wife, Marj; grandson, Jeremy Goodell; brother, Bill Marchant; brother in laws, Leonard Lanus and Bob Bradburn; and sister and brother in law, Jane and Bud Kubly.
