Robert Pratico, 57, of Humboldt passed away Monday January 28, 2013 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday February 6 at Faith United Methodist Church in Humboldt. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. till the time of service.
The Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home of Humboldt is in charge of arrangements.
Robert Paul Pratico was born May 25, 1955 in Hamilton Township, New Jersey to Vincent and Jeanne (Steward) Pratico. Robert spent his childhood in Hamilton Township and graduated from high school in 1973. Almost immediately after graduation he moved to Hawaii where he lived until he enlisted in the US Army in 1974 and was stationed in Germany. He received several medals and commendations during his service. After his discharge he moved back to Hawaii where he served as a lifeguard and EMT on several islands. On June 29, 1979 he married Cindy Westfall at First United Methodist Church in Humboldt. They met on Waikiki Beach when Cindy was on holiday.
Two daughters were born to this union, Katie Jean and Kacie Cheyenne. The coupe made their home in Humboldt for several years. Bob worked as a teacher aide and was on the staff of Jerry Rabiner Boy's Ranch. He received an AA degree from Iowa Central Community College in 1983. They then moved to New Jersey where Bob worked at Educational Testing Service. He returned to Hawaii where he stayed until 2010 when he and Cindy moved back to Humboldt.

Robert was fond of swimming, surfing, and outdoor exercise and continued to be active until his health forced him to cut back. He was famous for his kindness ad willingness to help others. He supported the NAACP, the Domestic Assault Outreach Center, and the Lakota Sioux Native American Tribe. Some of his friends referred to him as "Max" because he believed in enjoying everything "to the max". He had a great sense of humor and was noted for making up alternative lyrics to popular songs.
Robert is survived by his wife, Cindy (Westfall) Pratico of Humboldt, daughters Katie Jean Pratico and Kacie Cheyenne Pratico of Hawaii, brothers Vincent Pratico of New Jersey and Joseph Pratico of Florida, and sister Christina Hindley of New Jersey. He was preceded in death by his parents.
