Robert “Bob” Worthington, 84, of Humboldt, passed away Friday, July 8, 2011 at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital.    Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Faith United Methodist Church in Humboldt.  Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Humboldt.  Visitation will be from noon until the time of the service at the church.
Robert “Bob” Worthington was born August 16, 1926 in Clarion to Roy and Gladys Worthington.  Bob graduated from Humboldt High School in 1944. About a year later he joined the Navy and spent two years being a navigator on a ship.  Bob was a draftsman for Sande Construction for a few years before he started the Worthington insurance and realty business in 1958.  In 1965 Bob started the development of Oak Hill subdivisions.  Many of the homes in Oak Hill were designed and built by Bob.  He was a charter member of the Humboldt Dakota City JC’s (Junior Chamber of Commerce) and was a member of the Humboldt Development Corporation.  Bob was a partner and founder of the Humboldt Health and Racquetball Club.  Bob was a long-term member of the Humboldt Country Club and was an avid golfer and had many “holes in one”.   He was a member of the Methodist Church in Humboldt and was a big supporter of the Humboldt Community.
Bob is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; son Mike (Patty) Worthington of Humboldt; daughter Lisa (Brian Moore) Johns of Albuburque, NM; grandchildren Ben and Maria Johns and Brian (Jen) Menke; great-grandchildren Grant and Gracie Menke.  He was preceded in death by his parents.
