Rosalind A. “Polly” Erickson, of Humboldt passed away Tuesday February 24 at the Humboldt Care Center North. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Chapel of The Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
Mrs. Erickson is survived by her sons, Gary (Sharon) of Humboldt and Dale of Humboldt; daughter, Nanette (Jim) Thoden of Humboldt; grandchildren, James and Kurt Thoden, Lynne Robertson, Susan Day, and Gail Erickson; 9 great-grandchildren; 2 great great grandsons; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Merlin; infant daughter, Beverly; sister, Muriel Erickson; and brother, Reginald Berkhimer.
Rosalind A. Berkhimer, the daughter of John and Bina (Albee) Berkhimer, was born August 30, 1913 in rural Humboldt. She attended Humboldt High School graduating in 1932. She was united in marriage to Merlin Erickson at the Congregational parsonage at Humboldt on April 23, 1933. The couple farmed near Rolfe and after 4 years moved to a farm near Humboldt. Polly took up work at a local café and a few years later began working for Hood’s Super Value as a cashier, where she worked for many years until the business closed in 1982. In her retirement Mrs. Erickson enjoyed gardening, bird watching, reading, sewing, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ, where she sang in the choir, was president of the music boosters when her children where in school, was also involved in rural chorus and was a charter member of the Genealogy Club.
