Roy J. Kuehnast, 94, of Humboldt passed away March 13, at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday March 21 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Humboldt. Interment will be in North Lawn Cemetery, Fort Dodge. Visitation with the family will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday evening at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt.
Mr. Kuehnast is survived by his brothers, Leo (Lola Mae) Kuehnast of Humboldt and Lloyd Kuehnast of Waverly, NE; sister, Elna Kuehnast of Greensboro, NC; nieces, Donna Kuehnast, Carolyn Koenig, Diane Koch, Judy Rasmussen, Susan Thomas, and Theresa Hofer; nephews, Rodney and Leonard Kuehnast and David, Charles, and Kyle Johnson; and his cat Peggy. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Elsie; and brother Carrol Kuehnast.
Roy Johann Kuehnast, the son of Edwin and Caroline (Schneider) Kuehnast was born March 13, 1915 in Beaver Township, Humboldt County. He was raised and educated in Beaver Township and attended country school # 5. After his education he helped out on the family farm and later enlisted in the Armed Forces where he was stationed in numerous different countries overseas. He was honorably discharged in 1945 and on August 4, 1945 he was united in marriage to Elsie Rhodes. The two made their home in Beaver Township and Livermore. It was at this time that Roy began work at Farm Egg where he was employed for over 25 years until his retirement. In his retirement Roy enjoyed gardening and taking care of his acreage, he also enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and visiting with military friends. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Humboldt.
