Royden "Roy" Miller

Royden “Roy” J. Miller, 81 of Bode, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, October 10, 2021, at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital.

Royden Jerome Miller was born on May 22, 1940 in Troy, Missouri the son of Charles E. and Anna B. (Shoemaker) Miller. He was raised and educated in Hannibal, graduating from Hannibal High School. Roy enlisted in the United States Army and served in Germany. Following his discharge, he made his home in Colorado working 20 plus years as a member of the Pipefitter Local Union 208. He returned to Missouri where he worked for Utility Consultants as a District Manager retiring in 1995. On June 9, 1990, he was united in marriage with Judy Collins. The couple made their home in Hermann and Hannibal Missouri and then retired and moved to Bode, Iowa in 2008. Roy served as the Mayor of Bode, was a member of the American Legion, Shriner’s and St. Olaf Lutheran Church.
Roy enjoyed playing golf, had a love for dogs and was an avid sports fan – cheering for the Denver Broncos, St. Louis Cardinals and St. Louis Blues. His family remembers his ability to talk to anyone – he had a unique way of putting others at ease and making them friends.

Roy is survived by his wife Judy of Bode; children: Rory T. Miller (Vickie) of Greeley, CO, Mike Miller (Nola) of Thornton, CO, Lara Beth Segura of Denver, CO, Curt Miller (Stephanie) of Hannibal, MO, Tami Miller of Columbia, MO, Kelley Quinn (Jeff) of Conrad and Jennifer Hasfjord (Glenn) of Bode; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; sisters, Alberta Swan of Lawrence, KS, twins, Shirley Patrick and Sharlot (Don) McClary both of Hannibal, MO and numerous other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Al, Wayne, Don and Willis, and sisters, Reva and June.

Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Bode with Memorial Services at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Joyce Schmidt officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be in the St. Olaf Lutheran Cemetery. The Mason-Lindhart Funeral & Cremation Service of Humboldt is in charge of the arrangements. www.masonlindhart.com
