Skip Dresser, 68, of Ankeny, formerly of Humboldt, passed away March 25, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Monday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Humboldt.  Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Sunday at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt with a parish rosary at 5:00 and a parish scripture service at 7:30 p.m.  Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Humboldt.
Skip is survived by his sons, Kevin (Penny) Dresser of Riner, VA, and Dan Dresser of Ankeny; grandchildren, Emma (11), Reece (11), and Riley (11), Anna (10), Jack (8),.  He was preceded in death by his parents.
Harold “Skip” Edward Dresser, the son of Harold and Nellie (Devine) Dresser, was born September 19, 1941 in Kossuth County, Iowa.  He attended school at St. Mary’s and Humboldt Community School and graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in Cherokee where he excelled in basketball and track.  He then attended Stewart’s School of Hair Styling in Sioux City.  Skip returned to Humboldt and joined his mother in business establishing Harold’s Hair Design. He then became a representative for New York Life Co. until 1986 when he moved to Iowa City. In 2005, he made his home at Ankeny to be near his family.

Skip was an avid youth sports fan.  In earlier years, he took great pride in his son’s athletics and in later years enjoyed following his grandchildren’s activities.  In the 1960’s Skip served as a broadcaster for KHBT radio announcing wrestling and softball tournaments. He also served as Master of Ceremonies for many sports banquets and in the early 1970’s started the flag football program in Humboldt.  Skip also served as a past president of the Humboldt Rotary Club.
