Sue A. Blum, 72 of Humboldt, passed away on Saturday, May 8th 2021 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.

She was born August 25, 1948 in Sioux City, Iowa the daughter of James and Elizabeth (Persinger) Mahon. She graduated from Humboldt High School in 1966 and married Nathan Blum on January 9, 1988 in Woodland Hills, California. They lived in California and Florida until 2013. After their retirement they moved to Humboldt to be closer to family whom she cherished, especially her beloved nieces and nephews. Sue was an avid reader, loved 1950’s and 60’s music, her Beagle “Jimmy”, and was guided in her life by her strong Catholic faith.

She is survived by her husband Nathan, her siblings Bill (Jane) Mahon of Norwalk, Iowa, Rod (Carolyn) Mahon of Humboldt, Kathy (Vance) Donnelly of Jackson, Nebraska, David (Deb) Place of Renwick, Iowa, Mike Place of Humboldt, sister-in law Linda Mahon of Mishawaka, Indiana, step brothers Don (Tami) Place of Durant, Iowa, Don Byers of Sioux City, Iowa, Dennis Byers of Las Vegas, Nevada, and step sister Karen Hulin of Carroll, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth “Betty” and LeRoy “Mutt” Place, James & Florence Mahon, in-law’s Eddie & Dorothy Blum, brother’s Jim and Tony Mahon and infant brother Patrick.

Sue will be missed by all of her family. Her Memory will live on in all of our Hearts Forever...

Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 22nd from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Humboldt. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
