Susan A. Collins, 62 of Humboldt, passed away at her home on Thursday evening August 6, 2020 at her home following a lengthy illness.
She was born on August 18, 1957 in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the daughter of Merlyn and Jeannette (Knudsen) Dierksen. She spent her first year in Gilmore City before the family moved to Humboldt. She attended Humboldt High School. After high school she married Paul Collins on April 5, 1975 and together they raised two children. Susan babysat and worked for home health care for 8 years, she then worked as a CNA at the North Care Nursing home in Humboldt for 12 years, then at the South Care Center for 4 years. She was told she had the warmest hands and was always happy and smiling. Susan also worked in the Humboldt School’s Hot Lunch Program before fully retiring to take care of son Logan. Susan loved her family and loved being a grandmother.
She is survived by her husband Paul Collins, children Theresa (Jim) Olesen of Humboldt, Michael Collins of Lu Verne and Logan Collins of Humboldt, grandchildren Cassandra Meier, Abby Olesen and Paul Olesen, great- granddaughter Lokeigh, sister Margaret (Kevin) Tellier of Humboldt and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Andy Dierksen.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 11th at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 12th at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, masks are recommended. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Humboldt. www.masonlindhart.com
