Todd M. Ross, 50, of Humboldt, passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2016. Services will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the Zion Lutheran Church in Humboldt with the Rev. J.K. Raether officiating. Visitation with the family is from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Humboldt. The Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home of Humboldt is assisting the family.

Todd Michael Ross, 50, son of Daru and Eileen (Huegerich) Ross, was born June 20, 1966, in Carroll, Iowa. He grew up as a Carroll Tiger, playing fullback, linebacker and punter for the high school football team, and running sprints for the high school track team. He was the Homecoming king as well as the Prom king.
After graduating with the class of 1984, he attended Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs before packing up a Trans Am and moving to Dallas, Texas with three of his high school buddies. He was employed with Schweber Electronics in the microwave communications business.
On July 4, 1987, he married his high school sweetheart, Becky (Nobiling), in Carroll. They lived in Arlington, Texas, Des Moines and Urbandale, before setting roots in Humboldt, Iowa. In 1991, he began his employment with Fort Dodge Laboratories as a calibration technician where he worked until his passing.
Once in Humboldt, he slowly traded his orange and black to the blue and gold, coaching various football, basketball, soccer and baseball teams for all four of his kids. He’s been a Wildcat ever since, being particularly proud of the 2006 State Championship football team for which his son, Spencer, played quarterback. He reveled in his son Taylor’s loyal ability to accept all for whom they are as well as his quick wit. He was so looking forward to cheering on the Iowa Hawkeye football team this year and into the near future to watch his son, Brady, play fullback. Tears of pride and joy filled his eyes whenever he looked at his “little beautiful princess”, Mackenzie, and was looking forward to her becoming a Hawkeye this year. Aside from all of his children’s athletic, academic and life successes, he was the proudest of who they have become as people as he viewed them as his greatest accomplishments.
He enjoyed anything “Wildcat” (including the numerous boys and girls he coached and met through his kids over the years), running his dog at Sheldon Park, hanging with childhood friends, work buddies and family, and watching his kids participate in all their school and college events.
Todd passed away on Wednesday, July 20. He is survived by his wife, Becky; three sons, Spencer, 28, Taylor, 25, Brady, 20 and one daughter, Mackenzie, 18, and his golden doodle, Wilson, all of Humboldt/Dakota City; his parents Daru and Eileen Ross of Carroll; two sisters, Kim (Bob) Shields of Carroll, Jackie RossGuerrero (Gilbert) of Stillwater, Oklahoma; one brother, Chad (Amy) Ross of Carroll; motherinlaw Judy Nobiling of Humboldt; sistersinlaw Angie (Brad) Huseman of Minden, Miranda (Cory) Peterson of Humboldt; nephews Addison, Dayton and Cooper Ross of Carroll, Carter, Liam and Hudson Peterson of Humboldt; nieces Lindsey Shields of Ankeny, Katie Shields of Des Moines, Savanna Huseman of Minden, and Ella Peterson of Humboldt.
