Viola P. Peltz, 93, of Humboldt, passed away August 6, 2011 at the Humboldt Care Center North.  Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt.  Visitation is from 4-7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Viola Pearl McLuckie, the daughter of James and Nancy Pearl (Harris) McLuckie, was born February 9, 1918 in Webster County, Iowa.  She was raised and educated in the Moorland area and graduated from Moorland High School in 1937.  On April 23, 1938, she was united in marriage to Elmer Peltz at the Calvary Methodist Church in Fort Dodge and the couple made their home in the Barnum area before moving to a farm near Livermore.  They then moved to Humboldt where Viola was busy as a homemaker while Elmer operated the cab company in Humboldt.  The couple then farmed for many years near the communities of Bradgate, Bode, and Rutland until moving to Humboldt in 1972.  Mr. Peltz passed away in 1992 and Viola continued to maintain her home until becoming a resident of the Humboldt Care Center North in 2004.

Viola was a past long time member of the Faith United Methodist Church and became a Jehovah’s Witness in 1999.  She enjoyed sewing and was a beautiful seamstress making her children’s clothing and wedding dress.  She enjoyed baking, canning, creating photo albums, and quilted for her family and friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Peggy Miller of Gilmore City; sons, Donald Pelts of Faribault, MN, Roy Peltz of Graham, MO, and Harold Peltz of Iowa City; 16 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elmer; grandchildren, Darci Peltz and Dana Peltz; brothers, Floyd, Raymond, Russell, William, and Bob McLuckie; and her sister, Ann Merrill.
