Violet Himrod passed away on Tuesday, January 19, at the Humboldt Community Hospital.  Funeral Services will be held at the Faith United Methodist Church in Humboldt at 10:30am on Thursday, December 22.  Burial will take place at the Indian Mound Cemetery.  The Mason-Lindhart funeral home is in charge of arrangements.  Visitation will be held at the Mason-Lindhart funeral home in Humboldt on Wednesday, December 21 from 5:00pm-8:00pm.
Violet was born on a farm near Ottosen, IA on March 1, 1930.   Her parents were Selma and Swardrup Nelson.  She had two brothers, Glenn and Morris Axne and one sister, Gladys Danner, all who preceded her in death.  Violet attended schools in the Ottosen area and was an All-State basketball player in high school.
She married Howard Himrod on September 14, 1952 and they made their home in Humboldt.  They are the parents of two children, Roger and Diane.
She is survived by her husband Howard, son Roger (Pam) Himrod and daughter Diane (Harl) Stephenson, five grandchildren – Lisa (James) Wonneberg, Alyssa Stephenson, Laura (Eric) Brunner, Andrea (Wayne) Allbee and Adam Stephenson.  She is additionally survived by three great-grandchildren – Kori, Lenix and Luke.
Violet worked at the local phone company, became a stay-at-home Mother when her children were young and then worked many years as a Floral Designer at Country Florals in Humboldt.  She especially enjoyed watching her grandchildren participate in sports and other activities, travelling around the United States on a motorcycle, boating on the Mississippi River and enjoying the Des Moines River from their home located there on their pontoon boat.  Violet will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
