Walter "Garry" Kraft

Walter “Garry” Kraft, 83, formerly of Bode, passed away on Thursday, December 2, 2021 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.

He was born January 12, 1938 in Renwick, Iowa, the son of Walter Amos Christian and Marjorie Mae (Sidney) Kraft. He was raised and educated in the Renwick area. On August 16, 1959 he was united in marriage to Sandra E. Tompkins. The couple made their home west of Bode where they farmed and raised their family. In 2005 they moved into Bode yet Garry continued farming until retiring in 2017. Following his wife’s death, he moved to Nebraska in 2019. Garry served on the committee that was instrumental in creating the Veterans Park in Bode, he enjoyed the outdoors, antique tractors, woodworking, playing cards and tackling any project.

He is survived by his children Mark (Jeremy) Garrett-Kraft of Chicago, Teri (Scott) Doksansky of Atlanta, Georgia and Mike (Cari) Kraft of Blair, Nebraska, his grandchildren Adam, Hannah, Emma, Maddy, Jacob and Henry and his sisters LuAnn (Frank) Hefty of Houston, Texas and Sandy Kay Harris of Lincoln, Nebraska. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Sandra and three brothers Verven, Kenneth and Donald.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Monday, December 6th, and the Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 7th, both at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Bode. Burial will be in St. Olaf Lutheran Cemetery. www.masonlindhart.com
