Wilma E. Arndt, 74, of Humboldt, passed away Sunday, August 3, 2008, at the Humboldt Care Center North. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 5, at the Zion Lutheran Church with the Rev.’s J.K. Raether and Aaron Flatau officiating.  Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Humboldt. Visitation with the family will be 5-8 p.m. Monday, August 4, at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home, Humboldt.
Mrs. Arndt is survived by her children, Maribeth (Keith) Erickson of Wall Lake, Fred Arndt of Humboldt, Janna Arndt of Ankeny, and Jim (Diane) Arndt of Humboldt; grandchildren, Kari (Matt) Rhiner, Nick (Dawn) Erickson, Jackson and Carson Arndt; great-granddaughters, Madeline Erickson, Jordan and Jasmyn Rhiner; sisters, Alice Koessel of Lake View and Mary Orness of Gowrie; brother, Harold (Violet) Carlson of Minneapolis, MN; sister-in-law, Pauline Carlson of Gowrie. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fred; brother, Richard Carlson; and brothers-in-law, Wilmer Koessel and Olaf Orness.
Wilma Elaine Carlson was born September 10, 1933 to Arthur and Mabel (Anderson) Carlson at Fort Dodge. She was raised and educated in Gowrie. After her graduation she was united in marriage to Fred Arndt where the two made their home in Humboldt. Wilma worked as a homemaker and later as an administrative assistant for several different insurance businesses until her retirement to take care of her husband. Mrs. Arndt was an active member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Humboldt where she lived her faith by word and deed. She participated in several church organizations including, bible studies, LWML, Sunday school, and the church choir, as well as her over 30 years of playing the church organ. Wilma was lively in both church and family and enjoyed spending the last few years taking care of her grandsons.
