Alan G. Pedersen

Alan G. Pedersen, 71, of Humboldt, passed away on Wednesday evening, June 25, 2025 at his home in Humboldt.

Alan Gerald Pedersen was born December 28, 1953 to Gerald and Carla (Thorn) Pedersen in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He was raised on the family farm north of Rutland and graduated from Humboldt High School in 1972. After graduation he completed an Ag Business Program at Iowa State University and then continued working with his parents on the family farm growing and expanding it. In 1977 he married the love of his life and his wife of 47 years, La Rae Schorzmann with whom he shares his 3 children Kristi, Michelle and Brad. Alan was always an entrepreneur at heart and had a quick mind with numbers, always able to do difficult math in his head. He kept busy with crop and livestock farming, having his real estate and insurance licenses, owning rentals and opening a limestone quarry. He also never attended an auction that he didn’t find some antique treasure that needed buying and reselling or just brought home ! Collecting antiques on his and La Rae’s many travels in and out of the country was also something he got great enjoyment out of during their marriage, but he was also always happy to come home saying that there truly is nowhere in the world as great. He would always tell anyone who asked that his greatest achievement and joy was his family, especially becoming a grandfather. Kaitlyn, Lexi and Lincoln were the absolute center of his world. Every parting would include “Always remember how much grandpa loves you.”

In recent years, Alan has enjoyed going on drives with La Rae to check the crops or help his son and son-in-laws with any field shuffling they needed. He was also an avid watcher of any Iowa or Iowa State sport, although his best moments were spending every minute he could with his grandkids. His quick, teasing wit is already missed, and his favorite saying of “One day at a time” is an attitude we will all try to live by in his memory.

Alan is survived by his wife La Rae, daughters Kristi (Kyle) Wilson, Michelle (Brandon) Vorland, son Brad (Amanda) Pedersen, three grandchildren Kaitlyn Pedersen and Lexi and Lincoln Vorland all of Humboldt. He will be greatly missed.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 1st at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral & Cremation Service in Humboldt. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 30th at the funeral home. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Humboldt. www.masonlindhart.com
