Arloa Marie Rapple, 84, of Humboldt, went to her Lord & Saviour, Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family.
Arloa Marie Hanke was born March 10, 1941 in Buena Vista County, Iowa the daughter of Louie and Mary (Boisen) Hanke. She grew up on farms near Early, Iowa working alongside her folks Louie and Mary (Boisen) Hanke and her brother LaDon. She attended Crestland High School in Early, where she was co-captain of the basketball team and was a junior queen attendant and senior homecoming queen. After high school, Arloa went on to attend Iowa State Teachers College (UNI). Following college, she moved to California for a short time. Returning to Iowa she began teaching in Rutland and later taught 2nd grade at Taft Elementary where she taught for over 40 years. In 1975 Arloa was united in marriage to Darlow “Rip” Rapple until his death in 2007.
Arloa had many friends and activities. She enjoyed long motorcycle trips with Rip. She loved driving anywhere, anytime in her car, she was always up for a road trip. She loved gardening, cooking and following her grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s activities. Arloa enjoyed playing cards and going places with her many friends. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, NEA – ISEA, LWML, the VFW Auxiliary, the Hospital Auxiliary and 100 Women Who Care.
She is survived by her children; Jeanie (Pete) Stattelman, Sue (Paul) Larson, Wayne (Chris) Rapple and Nina Rapple all of Humboldt, 8 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, a great-great-granddaughter and nieces, Ann Hanke and Kris (Terry) Burns. She was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Darlow Rip” Rapple, parents Louie and Mary Hanke, her brother LaDon Hanke, sister-in-law Shirlee Hanke, niece Carol Ray, brother-in-law and sister-in-law George and Shirley Curry and granddaughter Jenny Rapple.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, January 19th at Zion Lutheran Church in Humboldt. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 18th at Zion Lutheran Church. Private family burial will be in Union Cemetery, Humboldt. The Mason-Lindhart Funeral & Cremation Service is in charge of the arrangements. www.masonlindhart.com
