Betty Graves, 98, of Humboldt passed away January 2, 2020 at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital.

Betty Graves, daughter of Fred and Hazel (Pecaut) Griswold was born on September 28, 1921 in Sioux City, Iowa. She grew up in Sioux City and received her education there, graduating from Central High School in 1939. Betty married Burdette McNaughton in November of 1941, the marriage was dissolved in 1965 and Betty went on to attend the National Business School in Sioux City. She married Jack Graves in 1968. She was a member and served as Grand Mistress of Delta Phi Gamma Sorority. She belonged to the Sioux City Boat Club where she was in charge of the women’s club and was a past member of Rose Croix Chapter of Eastern Star. She was a member of the Mayflower Congregational Church for over 50 years and served on many boards. Betty was employed as an office manager for Siouxland Council of alcoholism for 12 years where her office was located in Methodist Hospital.

Following the death of her father, she owned and operated Griswold Floor covering until 1995 when she moved to Humboldt to be closer to her family. Once she moved to Humboldt, she joined the Methodist Church and the Humboldt Country Club. Betty enjoyed music, bridge and golf.

She is survived by her daughter Carol (Mert) Christiansen, grandchildren Doug McNaughton, Missy (Lee) Smith and Jeff (Tricia) Christiansen, great-grandchildren Bekah Christiansen, Meg Christiansen, Gabe Smith and Grace Smith and daughter-in-law Norma McNaughton.
She is preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, sister Doris Pecaut and son Larry McNaughton.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, January 5 at 3:00 p.m. at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home. A visitation will be held prior to the start of services at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Graceland Park Cemetery in Sioux City.
